WAFT is a roaming event hosted by residents Mantis Kane, George Amos, and The Vinyl Depreciation Society. As champions of alternative dance music, they navigate beyond the mainstream, curating a sound that embraces underground disco, spiritual-techno, ethno-house, nu-wave, and indie-dance.
With a legacy including winning MUZIK Mag’s DJ Award in 2004 and performing across Europe with residencies at We Love (Space Ibiza, Homelands) and Renaissance (Pacha London/Ibiza), they later established their own club night, Chameleon.
Shunning the narrow confines of typical events of the time, Chameleon’s mission was to blend eclectic dance music from all corners while maintaining the continuity of a house set.
Early success brought in renowned guests such as Andrew Weatherall, The Unabombers, Schmoov!, and Bill Brewster. Within its first two years, it became the leading night in the south-west and was honoured as Mixmag’s Best Small Club.
Now based in Melbourne, WAFT represents the evolution of Chameleon, channelling the spirit of dance music eclecticism for a new era.
